I awoke yesterday with my throat at it’s worst. I felt like I had a lump in my throat and kept trying to swallow it, but every swallow was so very painful and did nothing. Anna woke me up with a phone call and I staggered about a bit before going out to town with Ted. We were meant to go with Mark, James, Emma and Sarah, but the first two were still in bed and the second two had gone without us. It was rainy and horrible, so we caught the bus.
We met Emma and Sarah outside next and pottered about town for christmas presents. Ted bought a few, but by the time he got to M&S for his sister’s present, his card was declined. He was adamant that he hadn’t run out of money because he had had £140 in his account about a week ago. On checking the account, he was down to £2.48 or something. Oops.
We carried on around town for a bit. I popped into a shop to buy Anna one of her presents, but they were out of stock! Grr. I then bought my dad a DVD and did some food shopping before going home. I got some awesome mince pies with icing on top. Yum yum.
Back at home, I watched a few more episodes of Screenwipe and even showed Ted a couple. He seemed to enjoy it. Who wouldn’t? I had a lovely dinner of quorn steaks with chips :P
We left out house at 7 30 for Sabi’s birthday over at Tyler Court. We’d bought her a big bottle of Smirnoff and everyone took their own alcohol, apart from Ted who was too poor for any alcohol. Arriving at Tyler Court, we found a fair few people, some we knew, some we didn’t. More and more people appeared as time went by. Sabi had made some cool punch, which a lot of people didn’t like because of the wine taste, but I loved. It just tasted like fruitjuice to me. I chatted to some cool people, including Conor, who I chatted to about Belgium, and Ted assaulted me with a slightly burnt brownie.
At about 9:15, we moved to the lighthouse so that we could get free entry to the venue. We must have been pretty close to having to pay because it was packed. We got drinks and hung around, waiting for the venue to open. I bumped into Freya and Justin spilt Ted’s snakebite.
As 10pm arrived, we moved into the venue. I bumped into Amy, from one of my lectures. I told her how I’d read her blog and it inspired me to start mine up again. A little bit later, I saw Freya again. She was very drunk indeed and bought me a drink before dancing like a loon. I rejoined my group and danced for a bit. I got the DJ to give Sabi a birthday shout out at midnight and she went mental. Matt Horne, of Gavin and Stacey fame, appeared at midnight to do a DJ set. He played a bunch of great music, including Justice, Simian, Digitalism. At about 1, Emma asked if I wanted to go and I replied ‘I’m enjoying the music too much!’. Immediately, the music went rubbish and he started playing cheesey old school stuff, so we left.
My ears were ringing like a bee-hatch. I tried calling Anna when I got home, but could barely hear her most of the time, so went to bed.
I had a strange dream where Smack, my favourite club back home, had a one night event in Canterbury called Smack: Relocation. I got Matt, who I work with at Blockbusters, to give me a lift from Leamington to Canterbury. Along the way, people kept shouting at him and calling him John. I got out of the car without even saying thanks to him, and went into the tent containing Smack: Relocation.
To start the evening off, there was a dance display and Manraj took part. I looked around after the display and saw Anna walking around with some big fat guy. I asked her what was going on and she said he wouldnt leave her alone, so I tapped him on the shoulder and told him she was my girlfriend. At first he said ‘Ah ok’, then burst out laughing, then started swearing right in my face. I called him a wanker and we moved on to a seated area. A few minutes later, a bouncer approached me. He told me I had to leave because I’d called the manager a wanker. I explained that it was completely unfair because of the way he’d been acting and the bouncer said it was fair enough and left me alone. We all started shouting ‘THE MANAGERS A WANKER’ to piss him off and then left.
I got back to my hotel, which was a weird bunker with some kind of secret lab in it. I kept seeing people I knew from school wandering around and they would point em towards my room. I was sharing a room with Dexter and Cris from school. After getting lost loads, I found my room and Cris was in there. I noticed that the bathroom was leaking and going over all my stuff. Cris just found it funny and splashed water all over me. I started a fight with him.
