An Announcement about my Dad

For people who don’t know, my dad, Peter Cruden, sadly passed away on the 2nd of February after a brief illness. We’d known it was coming for a couple of weeks, but the rate at which it happened was still a shock. He was 57.

There was an overwhelming response to the news of Dad’s illness, from old friends and colleagues, and it really touched him in his final days to know how many people he’d had an effect on. He was an awesome man; I of all people know that. I was always so proud when I had friends over and they commented on how cool and laid back he was. He’ll be remembered by so many as such a kind, thoughtful soul.

If anybody would like to pay their respects to Dad, the funeral is being held on Wednesday 15th of February at 10:30am at Oakley Woods Crematorium near Leamington Spa (CV33 9QP).

I know that people sometimes send flowers to funerals, but we’re saying family flowers only for this one.

Alternatively, we would hugely appreciate any donations to Myton Hamlet Hospice, where Dad spent his last week. The hospice is such a wonderful, peaceful environment with the friendliest, loveliest care that you could ask for. We could all notice a significant improvement in Dad’s wellbeing as soon as he was moved to the hospice, and the nurses regularly chatted to us over cups of tea to see how we were. The care was impeccable and my family, including Dad, have all been so thankful for that.

If you’d like to donate, please send a cheque made out to Myton Hospice to:

Co-operative Funeralcare
52 Warwick Street
Leamington Spa
Warwickshire CV32 5JP,

and include a note directing it into the donation collection in memory of Peter Cruden. That way, all of these donations can be collected together and we’ll know the total sum which has gone to the hospice in Dad’s name.

Thank you all for reading this, and for all the support which myself, James and Louis, as well as Dad received during this difficult period.
