Ooh! Never been asked for book recommendations before!
From the classics I’ve studied, I’d recommend Light in August, Invisible Man, Jude the Obscure, Hard Times and Lady Chatterley’s Lover. I enjoyed all of these, which made my studies much easier!
In terms of the classics I didn’t enjoy so much, Moby Dick, Middlemarch and Ulysses are absolute killers. Doesn’t mean they’re bad books though, they’re just long and difficult to study. If you enjoy Pride and Prejudice, Middlemarch might be right up your street.
